
O’Sound (aka Owen Lee) is an artist, musician, songwriter, vocal arranger, and producer from Toronto, Ontario. In 2014, Owen relocated to Halifax, NS. He is currently the Minister of Music at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Upper Hammonds Plains, the former Program Coordinator of the African Nova Scotian Music Association (2018-2023), and the former Musical Director of the Nova Scotia Mass Choir (2014-2019). A hugely respected vocalist, singer, and industry professional, Owen has worked to raise awareness about racial discrimination in Nova Scotia. In 2022, he was awarded the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal for exceptional service in Arts, Community Service and Volunteerism in Nova Scotia. Owen studied Jazz Theory/Vocal Performance at York University and his music spans jazz, gospel, R&B, soul, hip-hop, and blues. Owen has toured and shared stages with numerous critically-acclaimed musicians and is a model for collaboration in the music industry. Owen was named the 2022 Songwriter of the Year by the African Nova Scotian Music Association and was awarded the 2023 Album of the Year title by the same association.
