BECOME A VOLUNTEER

The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society is a volunteer-driven organization. From  the year-round committees that carry out the Society’s objectives to  the folks who pitch in during the Folk Harbour Festival, volunteers make  it all happen. We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and  responsible music lovers to join our team. Punctuality and commitment to  the task you’ve undertaken, as well as a cheerful and co-operative  manner with festival-goers and other volunteers are a must! In return,  you’ll have the fun and satisfaction of being a part of the Festival and  meeting lots of like-minded people.

All new volunteers must complete an application. Here’s how it works:

• You apply by clicking the Apply button below
• We review your application and place you with a committee based on your preference and our needs
• Your committee chair or designate will contact you and schedule your shifts
• You will attend an orientation
• Now you’re ready to volunteer at the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, or one of our Concert series events!*

If you are under 19, you must also submit a new Parental Consent Form each year.

You will receive a welcome back email in the spring from the  Volunteer Coordinator. If you have not received an email from us please  email admin@folkharbour.com to ensure your contact information is still included in our Volunteer contact list.

By filling out the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society application form  you give the Society permission to use your information to fulfill  obligations of the Society and share the information with all committee  chairs in an effort to ensure applicants and positions are matched.

 *Applying to be a volunteer or volunteering in previous years does not guarantee you will be asked this year. 

Assist with setup or teardown of sites, crowd management or movement of assets between stages

Assisting ticket holders purchase tickets or scan their tickets

Movement of artist between venues during the day and possible transport to and from the airport.

Hosting and providing a room in your home or rental home for artists to spend one or more nights while in Lunenburg.   This is critical to reduce our operating costs verse buying multiple hotel rooms.    Even if you only have 1 room you can help, so please contact us to have a discussion with our Billeting coordinator.

Picking up food and drinks to provide artists backstage, and setup and prepare tables for special events.

Our artists often bring CD and merchandise to Festival or concerts.  Help them sell their merchandise at our event.

Our not-for-profit society requires annual memberships for voting and management purposes.   Help us attract and sell memberships during Festival.

Recycling and the clean environment are a critical part of our mission.  Help ensure waste is being sorter properly at the bin and engage with attendees on questions. 

Capturing our events and sharing those special moments with the artists and our followers on social media can be very rewarding and is greatly appreciated by the Society, and artist. 

We require a team of engaged and creative volunteers to take direction from our office staff to help with publicity.  Help put up posters, deliver guide books to businesses, or assist with content creation. 

The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society is run by volunteer board of  directors and chairs of the committee's above.    The board meets monthly year round to plan and delegate the tasks needing to be done to hold our 4 days festival and various concert series.
