
Electrifying guitarist and award-winning singer-songwriter Cécile Doo-Kingué embodies a luminous fusion of cultures and sounds where blues, soul, jazz, chanson française, and African rhythms meet, converse, and ignite. Born in New York City to Cameroonian parents and now based in Montréal, Cécile weaves bridges between continents, rhythms, languages, and emotions with a style that is both raw and refined, powerful and intimate. A veteran of the funk, soul, roots, and blues scenes, she is widely regarded as one of Canada’s most versatile guitarists. A multiple Maple Blues Award nominee, Cécile has released four critically acclaimed albums and toured extensively across Canada and internationally, captivating audiences with her distinctive sound and magnetic stage presence. An engaged artist, in 2006, she co-founded Chick Pickin’ Mondays, a weekly live performance space for women and genderqueer artists. Cécile is currently the President of the Board of Folk Canada (formerly known as Folk Music Ontario). After a health hiatus, Cécile returns to the stage with her fiery fretwork, velvety vocals, incisive songwriting, and new tunes, delivering performances that are full of raw emotion, authenticity, and soulful intensity.
