Steve Dawson

A native of Vancouver, BC, currently residing in Nashville, Steve Dawson is a versatile solo artist, sideman, and record producer. Mostly known as a slide, steel, and pedal steel player, Steve has developed a style and voice on those instruments that can only come from years of touring and working in the studio. Considered one of the hardest-working musicians to come from Canada, Steve has produced and/or played on more than 300 albums. That body of work has resulted in shelves full of awards: seven JUNOs (18 nominations), seven Producer of the Year titles from the Canadian Folk and Western Canadian Music Awards, several Maple Blues Awards, among others. Whether he’s turning heads on the concert circuit with his incendiary guitar playing, or pulling the best possible performances out of the many artists that he works with in the studio, Steve is always striving to take things to the next level. Steve started Black Hen Music in 1998 with the goal of producing music that is diverse, eclectic, and that has connections to roots music forms. Steve was previously on our Festival stage in 2009.
